My Mother

This is a picture of my mom in the 80's when she traveled to Germany with my dad. I love how classically chic she looks.

Ace Hotel

Just found out about Ace Hotel They have a unique and young vibe but there's only a handful of places across the U.S. Palm Springs was definitely my favorite.

My Birthday Suprise from Tyler

Isn't he so cool. Not only for all the options he came up with to celebrate my birthday but also for the cute note he made me. You can't really see the options but we ended staying at the Canyons in a sweet studio and ate mexican chocolate fondue at Chimayo in Park City.

Fleet Foxes

I was checking out apartment therapy online and showed ty these awesome posters they were highlighting from postercabaret.com. He mentioned that he recently heard a song from Fleet Foxes and liked it so I looked it up.

Turns out I have 11 fleet fox songs on my ipod that I've been listening to for years. I was just clueless about names and titles. This is why I need to study music because I don't even know what I'm listening to.

Around town

Yesterday I went for a walk around my neighborhood and took a couple pictures of things I liked

Stand alone single unit garage overgrown with ivy

Top pic is an apartment complex in my neighborhood. It looks out of place here but if you could imagine it in So Cal in their cool retro neighborhoods it could be pretty rad like the Urban Outifitters pic below it.

Swedish Influence

I decided that I would try to learn more about good music. This is a band I found in my search. They're from Stockholm, Sweden and called Shout Out Louds

Coincidentally I just found a design blog that I love called finelittleday.blogspot.com. The author is also from Sweden and has a very cozy down to earth flea market style.

New Anthro Plates

I got my new Anthropologie plates in the mail today. I was so excited that I was taking pictures of them before I even unwrapped them all. I've been eyeing them for awhile and they finally went on sale plus with my extra discount I couldn't resist!

Happy Three Year + Happy One Month

Tyler: hey, we're gonna go to first saturday in brooklyn...around seven...what do you think?

Me: I love first Saturday in Brooklyn…….what is it?

**Email correspondence between Tyler and I on 2/2/07**

Tyler and I have officially been married for one month and to celebrate Tyler suprised me by taking me to "First Monday" at the U of U Natural History Muesem which is significant because our very first date was exactly three years ago in Feb 07 when he took me to "First Saturday" at the Brooklyn Art Muesem. It was perfect.
(btw first saturday means the first saturday of the month is free)

One of the highlights of the musuem was this old school photo booth. It still processes film so when the pics come out they're still wet with processor. It's so much radder than digital

We also loved this old change machine. You just "Place Dollar Bill in Tray as Shown" and then manually push the tray in, the bill doesn't even have to be perfectly straight. So simple. Why did we ever change them? (no pun intended)

I loved the pretty gems, minerals, and crystals

Our House is a Very Very Very Fine House

Tyler rented our apartment before I saw it. I have to admit I got very anxious when he started describing the place and telling me about the olive stove and awesome brown shag carpet but the place does have some cool retro details and it's all starting to grow on me. Except for the carpet. I haven't found the beauty in the carpet yet. All I know is that it's perfect camouflage for huge wolf spiders.

Dad's MG B

My dad just sold his MG this month. He's had it for 30+ years. I remember being small enough to sit in the back seat of it even though it technically wasn't a back seat at all but a place to store the convertable top. Later when I was in high school I tried to sqeeze back there again while Heather was driving. We got pulled over for having more than two people in the car even though I tried to duck from being seen but there was nowhere to go. We all loved the mg bogie.

Thank You Cards

Our thank you cards were a type of memoir of our wedding. We decided to use the paper garlands my fam helped me make for the wedding written out with Tyler's vintage type writer which was also used as our alternative to a Guest Book. Each envelope was sealed with blue floral decorative tape that was used to hold up pics on the wall and then we inserted a wallet size photo of one or the other's family of that day.

* My sister Cami thought our 2x3 picture inserts were actually stickers. How much cooler would that have been.
